Full Description:
Students in grades 9-12 attend Mooresville High School and N.F. Woods Technology and Arts Center on a separate campus. N.F. Woods was originally the Dunbar School, the first black school in the Mooresville district, serving grades 1-12. With integration in 1968, Dunbar became an elementary school for grades 5 & 6 and was re-named N.F. Woods Elementary School to honor the retiring principal in tribute to his thirty-three years of dedicated service. N.F. Woods became a technology and arts center in 1993. The original building of Mooresville High School was completed in 1948. Several classrooms and an addition to the library were added in 1968, followed in 1998 by a new cafeteria, media center, administrative office and classroom wing. Newly completed in August 2001, eight new (state-of-the-art) science labs, six new classrooms, a new media center and expanded parking areas were the latest additions to the building. Renovations to the student services department as well as the teacher preparation room completed the project. The final project scheduled will be an addition at the Woods campus of a shop area for the building and trades industry program.
